about

Fallen Leaves is a song about change, transformation and connection.

It came to me - almost complete - while driving back from an autumnal walk about a year ago - during the November lockdown - and encapsulates how I felt surrounded by the changing seasons.

We spend so much time isolated from the natural world, and, especially over the past couple of years, from each other. Fallen Leaves is intended as a reminder that we are connected and - perhaps more importantly - never alone.

It is also an invitation to remember who we are.

lyrics

Breathe
Breathe into shadows
Watch the cobwebs of shame and despair
As they fall away

Dream
Dream where your heart flows
With your arms open wide as you smile
Though the skies are grey

And the fallen leaves
Collect in the waters
And you know what it means
As you call on your daughters
And I am one

Run wild child
Run with the wind
Fly with the moon, close your eyes
And wish on a star

Sing
Sing without meaning
Let the words tumble out without fear
And return from afar

And the fallen leaves
Collect in the waters
And you know what it means
As you call on your daughters
And I am one

Breathe
Breathe into shadows
Watch the cobwebs of shame and despair
As they fall away

And further downstream
Where the shadows are dying
Is that where we'll meet
In a world without lying
Where we are one
